Hiya, I’m Sheryl, and a complete Singaporean at heart, even though my physical being is two-thirds of the time in sunny California (Bay Area), where I’m currently pursuing a college degree in Politics. Don’t ask me why – I don’t even like Politics 90% of the time, but I, strangely enough, do relatively well in all my classes, mostly because I enjoy reading and I love writing. :)
On the surface I’m generally an incredibly smiley person, accentuated by my unexplainable love for using a ridiculous amount of smileys in text messages, emails, and even blog entries. Most of the time I’m generally not happy, but not unhappy either – just very indifferent to the situation. It’s hard to explain this to people who expect you to either “be having fun” or “pretend to be having fun” because I am incapable of any deeper emotion than “indifference” most of the time. I’m extremely agreeable, and will always try to accommodate people and their desires. There are times however, when I succumb to self-confidence problems, and I become incredibly depressed to the point of a break down. I have a horrible habit of falling into deep obsession with things I enjoy, especially my fandoms, and another horrible habit of chewing things. Literally.
I have been in an amazing relationship with an amazing person. He is like my family here in the other side of the world, and my emotional support. In fact, he is more than just “someone I’m in a relationship with”. :) He teases me about my “always-becoming-distracted-by-animals” problem, and teases me about everything else in the world, especially my inability to drink. Nevertheless, I enjoy all my time with him, ups and downs too, and I wouldn’t want anyone else in the world.
I do creative writing on the side, and I write both original fiction and fanfiction. My biggest project each year is NaNoWrimo, for which I have participated, and succeeded, since 2007. :D I also cosplay a lot on the side, but because I have no money, I try to limit how much I end up cosplaying. I usually go for local conventions in Singapore, and try to go for a couple of conventions in the USA every now and then. I also enjoy the lolita fashion, just mostly admiring the clothing, for now, but maybe one day I will jump onto the bandwagon.
I collect heaps of rubbish on the side, mainly figurines, trading cards and a ridonkulous amount of doujinshi. :D
